What we do
1. WE BRING THE ARTS TO KIDS-IN-NEED
Create Now works with over 100+ partner agencies, such as shelters, group homes, schools and detention facilities located throughout Southern California to bring our seven pillar arts programs to disadvantaged youth-in-need.
We recruit and train our volunteers to mentor kids right in their own neighborhoods, based on their preferences regarding the children’s ages, genders, challenges and more.
Create Now also provides arts supplies, ongoing support and culmination events for all of our programs, and the chance for volunteers to safely keep in contact with their mentees once their programs have ended.
To ensure that our programs have tangible, long-term impact, we incorporate career planning into each of our programs. We also send out regular notices to our partner agencies with information about scholarships, internships, free resources and job opportunities, which reach thousands of the most disadvantaged youth.
2. WE BRING ARTS PROGRAMMING TO SCHOOLS
To prevent dropouts, Create Now implements high-quality programs in Title 1 schools where students receive limited to no arts education. We follow California Common Core State Standards. These 12-16 session classes are taught by professional teaching artists.
Career preparation is an important part of our curricula. We use SETS (Student Evaluation Tracking System) and ETO (Efforts to Outcomes) as assessment tools, along with pre- and post surveys and qualitative analysis from students, teachers, parents and administrators to evaluate the impact of our classes.
3. WE BRING COMMUNITY ARTS PROJECTS TO POOR AREAS
Our CAP (Community Arts Projects) initiative helps to cap violence in the most disadvantaged neighborhoods. These programs bond families and bring neighbors together, while easing tensions.
The arts projects can be organized for targeted areas at public parks and centers, or with our partner agencies. Create Now will tailor a program that is based on your group or company’s goals and budget.
