Create Now reached 3,621 youth this year and we made a difference in many young lives. For example, preschool children at ELAC improved their impulse control and language fluency while gaining self-confidence through our steady beat music program.
All the 4th and 5th grade students in our mural and STEAM arts classes at Camino Nuevo Charter Academy had 20% improvement in math scores on year-end state assessments because of our curricula and excellent teaching artists. Children facing homelessness at shelters in Northridge, Boyle Heights and Skid Row loved arts and crafts – and thousands of other youngsters enjoyed much more.
2020 is going to be even better! Create Now is launching two Fashion Design workshops for foster youth at Maryvale and Hillsides group homes. Transition age youth 18-24 years-old at the TAY Hotspot in Carson will learn Culinary Arts. We’re in the process of launching new classes in singing, dance and guitar for the most vulnerable kids, thanks to our wonderful volunteers – and your support.
Create Now asks for your help so we can provide the therapeutic power of the arts to 4,000 more kids in 2020. Every dollar counts so please contribute!
